Why Paint Molds? Our Coloring Standards Explained

2025-06-04

At High Wing MOLD, we paint molds with specialized anti-rust or anti-corrosion coatings upon factory intake. This essential step protects the mold surface from moisture, chemicals, and environmental factors, significantly extending its operational lifespan.

Our Paint Selection & Coloring Standards:

1. Customized Solutions: We select coatings (including epoxy resin, fluorocarbon, and polyurethane paints) based on the mold's material, geometry, size, and intended operating environment.

2. Precise Color Matching: Our Project Department provides the production team with custom color samples based on client specifications. Our skilled mold fitters meticulously adjust colors to ensure minimal visual difference against the client's sample.

3. Quality Verification: All color-matched molds undergo strict inspection and confirmation by our Quality Control Department, with full documentation maintained.

4. Surface Preparation: Prior to painting, all mold surfaces undergo thorough physical and chemical preparation:

*Rust spots are meticulously polished away.

*Surfaces are wiped clean to remove all oil, dust, and contaminants, ensuring optimal paint adhesion.

5. Coating Process:

*A protective anti-rust primer is applied first and allowed to cure completely.

*The specified topcoat color is then applied to match the approved sample.

6. Critical Masking Areas:

*Upper & Lower Working Surfaces: Must remain unpainted.

*Mold Pads: Painted with standard gray paint.

*Pad Mounting Surfaces & Working Faces: Must remain unpainted.
